What you Need to get Started
In order to do Anything in MMD, you should probably download MMD first!
(Quick note, MMD is for Windows Only! Does not run (normally) on a Mac!)
The link can be found Here, after clicking the link, you will end up at a page that looks like this:
By scrolling down on this page, you will find the links below (with “Download the latest version of MikuMikuDance” being the one you want).
By clicking that top link, you will find the two following buttons for the two versions of MMD you can download. (The two square buttons below)
The Red button on the left is for downloading the 32 Bit version of MMD (for older/less powerful computers.
The Pink button on the right is the 64 Bit Version (more powerful version for more powerful computers. Get this one if you can.)
Quick note again, MMD only runs on Windows Computers only. If you want to try running this on a Mac, you’d have to use a “Windows Emulator” or otherwise.
By clicking on either Download button, you will have a new window pop up asking where to download the MMD Zip file to.
(There is a Video below the download buttons about Downloading MMD, so if you want more information or another source, feel free to check that out too!)
After hitting “Save” on the window, you should have this file below (shown on my desktop).
In order to use the files we downloaded in the Zip file, we need to Extract them. By Right Clicking on the Zip file, you’ll have several options for Extracting files.
Extract how you wish, but for being simple I like to move the Zip file into it’s own folder, and select “Extract Here”.
After extracting, you will get the files below. (At this point, MMD will be Installed!)
You can choose to now delete the Zip file, or don’t, it shouldn’t affect using MMD.
By now Double Clicking the MikuMikuDance.exe, you will start up the program, and be greeted with the following default window:
And with that, you can “Technically” start Animating!
…If you know what you’re looking at, that is.
But now that we have the program, we can start going over how to use the program!
And I will be linking the next post below (when available)!
